BEFORE & AFTER Care

Our After School Enrichment (ASE) program offers a wide variety of classes.  The schedule changes session from session, but the goal is to provide students and families with variety and the ability to try new things. Buchanan YMCA is the ASE provider for New Traditions. You can sign up for 1, 3, or 5 days of YMCA after school care to enjoy the ASE of your child's choice.

The number of choices will depend on your number of enrolled days per week:

• 5-day programming: 3 enrichment classes

• 3-day programming: 2 enrichment classes

• 1 day programming: 1 enrichment class

There will be enrichment choices from Mon-Thurs, about 3-5 enrichments per day. Students will choose enrichments based on the day(s) they are assigned to the YMCA.  

A sampling of Fall 2026 choices include:

• YMCA Swim Lessons at Presidio YMCA

  • learning swimmers prioritized

• Spanish

  • Lessons provided with outside vendor; may include another fee per session

• Cooking

• Arts/Crafts

• Kickball

• Tree Frog Trek

  • Hands-on experiences to learn about reptiles and amphibians

• Chess

• Lego Engineering

• Football

• Soccer

• Homework Club

  • This is a great opportunity for students to get a dedicated hour-long quiet homework support during program. (You may select your child's mandatory participation in this enrichment.)
