There’s a seat for you on the PTA Board

 

Would you consider volunteering to serve in one of the four open positions on the PTA Board for the 2019-20 school year? The PTA Board is responsible for considering the needs of all students at New Traditions and guiding the discussions and decisions about how to invest PTA funds. We need your voice in the discussion to make sure we’re being intentional and serving all students!

 

Open roles include VP of Communications (that’s the one who composes and sends out this Dragon Den each week!), EVP of Contracts, Treasurer, and Financial Secretary. The PTA board meets monthly at the school, and your children are welcome to accompany you (feel free to bring their corresponding electronic device if you wish), so you don’t need to have childcare to attend meetings.

They can also provide detailed job descriptions for you to consider. If you’re curious but a little intimidated...please reach out anyway! On Friday, March 15, SFUSD will send the offer letters to the families that applied for the 2019-20 school year. Registration at New Traditions will happen in the weeks of March 18-22 and April 1-5. Our first event for the new families will be in conjunction with our monthly Principal’s Coffee in April. Please, bring some food to welcome our new community members. Thank you!

The Renegade Tinkering Club Summer Camps

 

The Renegade Tinkering Club is excited to announce our new Haight summer camp location at Xian Yan Academy on Page Street at Stanyan.

 

Girls only and coed kids STEM camps for rising 1st - 6th graders include: Chemistry (investigate substances and the ways in which they interact, combine and change), Take Flight (launch your imagination into the stratosphere by making a variety of flying machines and exploring the concept of aeronautics), Tinker Tales (create a graphic novel by building small scale sets and characters, taking photos with iPad and printing to combine with your handwritten final story), Toymakers (make toys, then play with them all the while exploring the science behind them).

We need someone to run the end-of-year raffle! Is it you?

 

Want to make a big fundraising impact? We are looking for an individual to run our end of year school raffle. This is a time limited commitment over the next couple of months. We have several prize donations already so responsibilities mainly involve coordinating tickets sales and collections. Buchanan YMCA Summer Camps @ New Traditions

 

This summer the Buchanan YMCA summer camps will be held at New Traditions!

 

Here’s a message from Bill Burke, Buchanan YMCA’s Senior Director of Community Programs:

 

We have a new camp model this summer and we have developed themes, specialty camps, field trips, project based activities and a summer learning loss curriculum focused on engaging our youth throughout the summer. Jackson Livingston, who used to be our New Traditions Site Coordinator and now is our current Site Coordinator at our Chinese Immersion De Avila After School program, will be our Camp Coordinator, overseeing all of our programs and offerings.
