Please make plans to attend the PTA Community Meeting #3 this coming Wednesday, February 13!

This meeting is an important one, as we will discuss the final decision on our new play structure, changes to next year’s ASP program, and we will vote on the nominating committee who will serve to nominate next year’s PTA Executive Board. As usual, childcare and food will be provided. Please put the date on your calendar, and plan to attend!

The awesome childcare crew from the recent SSC/PTA community meeting will be there making it a fun time for our kids - and this time, with some special Valentine’s Day projects for the kids to work on (plus Legos for those who cannot live without). Enjoy dinner in the cafeteria with your child starting at 5:30, and then walk them over to the art room and head back to the cafeteria for our gathering!

Help us find our next PTA board members!

Critical, Short-term Volunteer Opportunity

Do you care about our school, our kids, the communication between principal, parents and teachers, and how PTA dollars are spent? Are you able to be objective in consideration of PTA Executive Board candidates? Do you want to contribute to the school, but can't sign up for a year-round responsibility?

Then would you consider being on the Nominating Committee to select the next Executive Board of the PTA? It's a well-defined process that takes 2 months, and your impact would extend for beyond the time commitment.

We need 3 people (plus 1 alternate) whose role is to identify, select and contact nominees for the PTA executive board for the next school year. Every effort should be made to provide the PTA with a slate of officers that is balanced in terms of new as well as experienced officers and reflects the diversity of the school population. Members of the committee are not excluded from becoming nominees for elected office.

The timeline for the Nominating Committee work is as follows:

  • 2/8 - The PTA elects people to serve on the Nominating Committee

  • 3/22 - Nominating Committee presents a list of Executive Board Nominees to the PTA

  • 4/19 - The PTA elects nominees to serve on the PTA board

Contact Amy Millward at communications@newtraditionssf.com if you would like to be considered for the Nominating Committee!

Reminder: Our neighbors need 100% access to their driveways at all times. Please do not double park and/or block the street. This poses frustration for our neighbors AND dangers for our kids as they try to walk around the cars. Morning Drop Off is on Hayes Street for all students. Also, please use the parking lot for afternoon pick ups.

Yearbook Committee Chair Jon Michaelsen needs the photos you’ve taken of your child’s class

Please send me any photos you take of your child’s class! Because I cannot be in every class during the year, I need help obtaining photos for the yearbook that show not only the special school events, but also the day-to-day moments of your child’s school year. Any photos of classroom life or field trip moments would greatly help.

You can send the photos to me in any way you feel comfortable: email me at jon@braincloud.tv, share an iPhoto album with me, send via dropbox, or another way that’s easy for you. I’ll accept them!

And don’t forget...keep turning in those Box Tops!
