Classroom Auction Art Project - Volunteers Needed

 

We are looking for parents who want to work with their child's class in January or February to make an art piece to sell at the auction. The project usually involves one to three sessions during class time, coordinated with the teacher. This is a great opportunity for children to contribute to the auction and for parents to spend quality time in the classroom. A Big “Thank You” to our Greening Day Crew!

You are seriously the best.

 

Last weekend, with the help of an amazing group of families, teachers, and staff, we made so many improvements to the school yard and green spaces! Our children and teachers spend so much time at New Traditions - thank you to everyone who took time out of their Sunday to give our school some loving care and attention.

 

In fact, a whopping 26 people signed up and at least that many showed up on the actual day. Some people were there from 10am until past 2pm, and some came for a time window that worked for their schedule - and it all helped tremendously. An amazing group worked on the green area around the basketball court which now looks fabulous again, a great team worked on the edible garden to give it a face lift, and the garden shed (and area behind it) is now clean and organized! Some parents generously donated coffee and pastries. Education Outside teacher Sean was a driving force last Sunday and will continue to distribute mulch around the areas that need it with the help of the older kids. And best of all - we all had fun!

 

Looking forward to Spring Greening Day with everybody - date TBD!

Update for Winter Performances

In an effort to better support families with multiple children, this year we will hold both musical performances on the same night: Wednesday, December 19th.

 

First

K-2nd students will perform in the cafeteria from 5-5:30 pm. Due to space constraints, this performance is only for K-2 students and their families. All K-2 students will sit with their classes, in the cafeteria, during the show. At the end of this program, we will need to clear the cafeteria to prepare for the older kids’ performance.  

 

Then

3rd-5th students will perform in the cafeteria from 6-6:30 pm. This performance is intended for 3rd-5th graders and families only. The 3rd-5th grade students who arrive at the school as the K-2nd performance is still happening/wrapping up will go straight to their classrooms to wait until their performance begins.

Auction Committee Needs your Help

 

Our team is looking for ideas on how to provide yummy food for our event, and we can use some help. We are looking for anyone in, or with connections to, the catering or restaurant business. If this is you, please contact us! auction@newtraditionssf.com

 

We are also on the hunt for unique and interesting live auction items:

  • Do you work someplace interesting (museum, at the airport, on a train, or at an interesting tech company)? Behind-the-scenes tours and unique experiences are super successful in the live auction.

  • Do you have a friend or family member with a house or apartment somewhere interesting (France, Spain, Monterey, SOMA)? Offering a weeklong getaway, or even a few days, can be a great live auction item.

  • Or perhaps you have a whole mess of airline miles or hotel points you don’t know what to do with. We can combine them with other items to make a cool vacation package - this kind of thing does great as a live auction item.

Principal's Coffee & Family Potluck

Tuesday, December 8 at 9:45am in the cafeteria

Come gather in the cafeteria to mingle with other parents/caregivers for some informal conversation and a Q&A with Principal Alderete. The event starts at 9:45am, and Principal Alderete will join at 10am.  

Please, bring some food to share. Free coffee courtesy of Manitas Café!

 

These coffees take place monthly on the second Tuesday of each month, except for the month of May, when it will take place on May 21 (the third Tuesday of May).

 

Unfortunately, school parking is not available for this event due to ongoing PE activities at that time, so please plan accordingly.

Lost & Found - Winter Clean Up is coming!

Winter Performance is on Wednesday, December 19 and it will be the perfect time to check the rack of clothing and the little cart with lunch boxes, containers, water bottles and miscellaneous items by the Cafeteria. All items with no names on them will be donated afterwards.

Stop by and peruse - you may find things you didn’t even know you lost!

Kindergarten 2 College Program

 

Kindergarten 2 College account at Citi has had $50 deposited by whoever is pushing that savings account.

 

Go to: https://sfgov.org/ofe/k2c and click on "Forgot Account" to get your kid's account number (all you need is First Name, Last Name, Date of Birth and Zip code - so nothing special is needed to look up your account number).

 

Then, you go to that same site (https://sfgov.org/ofe/k2c) and click on "Check Balance" which takes to you the Kindergarten 2 College login page. If you've never logged in or registered, you can register right there, with the account number you just looked up, so super easy.

 

If you want to transfer money into this account (I'm not sure if there are still some "free money" incentives, but will report back), then you go to your own bank's website, go to your Bill Pay page, and save these Merchant Details:

  • Merchant Name: Kindergarten 2 College Account

  • Account #: your student's 15 digit account number

  • Merchant Address: P.O. Box 790020 St. Louis, MO 63179-9966

  • Merchant Phone Number: 415-701-2311

  • Set up a one-time payment or a recurring payment.

 

This savings program offered $50 for free for all Kindergarteners (not sure if they still do) - so it's worth taking 5 minutes to log on and set up the account, so you can get in there.
