School Site Council Meeting Today

See you at 4pm in the school library!

No School Monday, November 19 - Friday November 23

This is the week of Thanksgiving vacation for SFUSD schools.

Early Dismissal Week

Monday, November 26 - Friday, November 30

Dismissal for all students is 2:30pm for the week of parent-teacher conferences. ASP Classes are cancelled that week, and YMCA still cannot accept drop ins. Please plan accordingly, and make sure you schedule your parent-teacher conference with your child's teacher.

And that same week…

The Book Fair is open!

November 26-30

The Scholastic Book Fair is coming to our school the week of parent/teacher conferences! Rows of shelves will fill the main hallway, and in the hours before and after the school day, students can browse and purchase thousands of exciting and popular titles. Proceeds provide leveled books for the classrooms based on each teacher’s wish list. Can you help us bring the book fair to life? We're looking for set-up assistants, cashiers, and folks to help market the fair. Add your name to a slot on the sign-up sheet (link below) or reach out to Ray and Monica at to see how you can help make it happen!

>> Sign up here to help at the Book Fair! << We need a few more people! Can you help?

Reminder: Enrollment is Open for Winter ASP Session!

Enrollment closes this Sunday, November 18th at 6pm. Please see Ms. Debbie in the office if you need a scholarship request form. Those will be collected each day this week. You will see the $6.00 administration fee added to the overall course fee for each class.

Here is your direct link to the course offerings and Winter Schedule:

Thanks to you all and we look forward to another session of great enrichment options!

School Fundraiser with Booksmith Bookstore + The Bindery Bar

Monday, December 3rd 10am-10pm

Super easy fundraiser alert! Tell everyone you know to do some holiday shopping at Booksmith Bookstore in the Haight on Monday, December 3rd from 10am-10pm. Just give our school's name at the register and Booksmith will donate 15% of the total sale to New Traditions.

Booksmith also has a second space on Haight Street, The Bindery, which is a multi-use space that sells books and has a bar with beer, wine, and cocktails. The Bindery is open 2-10pm, and 15% of all purchases there (books AND drinks) on Tuesday, December 5th will also be donated. Anyone want to coordinate a Parents’ Night Out???

The more purchases people make, the more Booksmith will donate. There's no limit! Remember to mention New Traditions!

Auction Committee Needs your Help

Our team is looking for ideas on how to provide yummy food for our event, and we can use some help. We are looking for anyone in, or with connections to, the catering or restaurant business. If this is you, please contact us!

We are also on the hunt for unique and interesting live auction items:

  • Do you work someplace interesting (museum, at the airport, on a train, or at an interesting tech company)? Behind-the-scenes tours and unique experiences are super successful in the live auction.

  • Do you have a friend or family member with a house or apartment somewhere interesting (France, Spain, Monterey, SOMA)? Offering a weeklong getaway, or even a few days, can be a great live auction item.

  • Or perhaps you have a whole mess of airline miles or hotel points you don’t know what to do with. We can combine them with other items to make a cool vacation package - this kind of thing does great as a live auction item.

Send us your wildest and biggest ideas!

Lost & Found

Please, come check the two racks of clothing in the area between the Cafeteria and the Edible Garden, and the little cart with lunch boxes, containers, water bottles, and miscellaneous items next to Ms. Debbie's office. All items with no names on them were donated just after the Dragon Walk, and our racks are already filling up again very quickly!

Stop by and peruse - you may find things you didn’t even know you lost.

Kids are always welcome on Greening Day - expect some kid-friendly activities in the lower yard. Thanks in advance for making the time to give our children’s school - a place they spend so much time at - some loving care and attention.

Help Ms. Mandy ride her bike from SF to LA!

(To raise money for SF AIDS Foundation and LA LGBT Center)

Hello NT Community,

I will be participating as a cyclist in the AIDS/LifeCycle event, a 545-mile bike ride from San Francisco to Los Angeles to raise funds for the life-saving services offered by San Francisco AIDS Foundation and the Los Angeles LGBT Center!

If you would like to support me riding my crazy booty down to LA for a good cause, there are two ways you can help! (And boy do I need your help!)

1.) Follow this link to donate funds to help thousands of humans in need of vital services and to support those organizations providing those services!! I need to raise at least 3,000 to ride in the event!

2.) PLEASE consider donating to my gofundme page as well as I raise funds to procure the equipment necessary to get safely from SF-LA. Here's the link:

If you are not sure about donating digitally - no worries! Please talk to me; I can figure out a way to help you donate!

The services provided as a result of this event mean the world to those who receive them, and your support means the everything to me. Please consider donating and sharing the message far and wide!

Share the photos you take with the yearbook committee!

The Yearbook Committee is looking for some parents who volunteer in their kid's class and could share candid pictures of the classroom, field trips, and school events throughout the year for the NT Yearbook 2018-19.

Please, contact us if you could help us.

Thank you!

Join the PTA

Whether you’re giving of your time, your money, or your energy, our students benefit - even if the resources you give are a few minutes of your time and $10 for yearly dues. Every bit of effort toward supporting our students counts! Teachers, staff, parents and caregivers - thank you for everything you do to support and advocate for our students, and thank you for considering PTA membership.

Dragon Walk Thank You/Tax Receipt Document

Once again, we would like to congratulate our community for coming together for such a fun community event and fundraiser. Dragon Walk 2018 wasn’t just a walk in the park…it was so much more and a huge success!

Please feel free to share the attached Dragon Walk 2018 Thank You/Tax Receipt with anyone who helped support your student! Send it digitally along with a personal thank you or print and hand deliver or mail it. As a reminder, all donations to FONT PTA are 100% tax deductible. The tax ID number is provided on the bottom of the document.

Box Tops @ Thanksgiving???

Okay, so maybe the actual stuffing box might not have a Box Top label, but there are plenty of Box Top opportunities with the holiday season upon us!

As you’re baking and cooking, look for those small labels on many products from baking and cookware (Reynolds Kitchens Parchment Paper, Oven Bags or Baking Pans to name a few) to fresh foods (Green Giant herbs and vegetables) and even some cleaning supplies have them (Finish Dishwasher detergent, Lysol sprays and wipes). Maybe you use Ziploc bags and containers to store some of the leftover goodies or for food prep - look for Box Tops on those items as well.

Simply clip the box top, and put in the collection box located on the PTA table at the school’s main entrance.  Questions? Contact Carole (
